Thomas C. | through advanced courses in shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle surgery. Additionally, his special interest in complex knee problems and injuries adds expertise to the Southern Orthopedic Specialists, P.A. team. Dr. Mitchell has trained with some of the leading experts in the country in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. Since his arrival in 2000, he has covered sports events as a sideline physician in Bay and Gulf counties. As a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine (UAB) in Birmingham Dr Mitchell went on to attend residency at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana.
